Virginia Urology Seeks Approval for New Colonel Heights Surgery Center

Virginia Urology, based in Richmond, is seeking approval to build a new surgery center in Colonel Heights, Va., according to a Progress-Index report.

The practice, which has nine locations throughout the Greater Richmond area with two licensed ambulatory surgery centers, hopes to build a $3.7 million center at its Colonial Heights location.

Virginia Urology is seeking approval from the state health commissioner to allow the organization move forward in the form of a certificate of need for the project.

The CEO of Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Va., has spoken out against the project.
