Additionally, the sports medicine facility appointed neurosurgeon Samuel Browd, MD, PhD, as its new director. Dr. Browd serves as a neurosurgery professor at Seattle-based UW School of Medicine.
Dr. Browd succeeds founding director Stanley Herring, MD, a rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, sports medicine and neurosurgery professor at UW School of Medicine. He will continue to support the institute as senior medical advisor.
An attending pediatric neurosurgeon at Seattle Children’s Hospital, Dr. Browd is also the medical director of Seattle Children’s concussion program. He serves as an unaffiliated neurologic consultant to the NFL and as an independent neurologic consultant to the Seattle Seahawks.
