UW Health in Wisconsin Planning New Orthopedic Facilities

UW Health may construct a clinic and new hospital that focuses on orthopedics in Madison, Wis., which will increase the size of the current patient rooms, according to a Wisconsin State Journal report.

The hospital, which plans to have 50-80 beds would serve the area’s aging population to meet a projected annual increase of 2.5 percent in hospitalized patients and 3.5 percent in outpatient visits over the next five years.

While construction wouldn’t begin until next year, the hospital feels a sense of urgency to expand these facilities because it may run out of space for any growth by 2014, according to the report.
