The patient had a portion of his leg replaced just above the knee because of the Sarcoma. His ankle joint was moved up and foot reversed for increased mobility. In 10-14 weeks, the patient will receive a prosthetic leg to fit over the natural foot, which also allows the ankle to function as a knee.
Some pediatric patients who have this procedure are able to return to normal activity and play sports.
