The University of Virginia has begun online posting of faculty physicians’ financial dealings with medical companies worth more than $10,000 a year, according to a report by the Charlottesville Daily Progress.

Reported dealings include participation in corporate speakers’ bureaus, which is now banned by the university, reviewing medical documents, activities related to medical research, consulting with law firms about court cases and sitting on drug company advisory boards.

The decision is in reaction to increased scrutiny of such relationships, including a proposal in the U.S. Senate that would require medical companies to list payments to physicians online.
