The grant, given over a five-year period, will establish the center for research into the neurobiology of chronic pain and sensory function, and the development of new therapies. Ian Meng, PhD, serves as principle investigator on the NIH COBRE award, with Edward Bilsky, PhD, as co-investigator.
The grant will also help the university increase the number of its neuroscience investigators and build the necessary critical mass of personnel to sustain a competitive research center, acquire imaging and histology equipment, complete laboratory space renovations and purchase other equipment.
