Four things to know:
1. The hiring comes after months of reviews following the death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair, who was hospitalized with heat stroke and died in June 2018 despite undergoing an emergency liver transplant.
2. The University fired coach DJ Durkin and two trainers involved with the improper treatment of Mr. McNair.
3. Dr. Rooks previously served as team physician for the University of Maryland from 1998 to 2016 and was head team physician from 2008 to 2016.
4. She will also serve as lead team physician in her new role.
