UAMS, Arkansas Children’s forge pediatric sports medicine program

Little Rock-based University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences Orthopedics Northwest and Arkansas Children’s Northwest are launching a pediatric sports medicine program, NBC affiliate KNWA reported Nov. 12.

Three things to know:

1. UAMS sports medicine specialists will provide care at Arkansas Children’s for athletes at partnering high schools in the region.

2. UAMS Orthopedics Northwest includes Ramon Ylanan, MD, and Larry Balle, MD, two fellowship-trained sports medicine specialists and former team physicians for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks.

3. Wes Cox, MD, serves as section chief of UAMS Orthopaedics Northwest.
