Two St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Systems Receive Blue Distinction in Knee, Hip Replacement and Spine Surgery

St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Ann Arbor (Mich.) and St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (Calif.) have been recognized as Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Blue Distinction Centers for Knee and Hip Replacement as well as Center for Spine Surgery, according to a hospital news release.

Both distinctions are part of the recent expansion of the Blue Distinction designation. The distinguishing criteria for these hospitals includes establishing an accredited inpatient facility, surgeon experience and training programs, quality management programs, multi-disciplinary clinical pathways and preoperative patient education.
