Titan Medical receives new patent for robotic surgery: 3 things to know

Titan Medical earned the Canadian Patent “End Effector Apparatus for a Surgical Instrument.”

Here are three things to know:

 

1. The patent is related to end-effector actuation mechanism that are suitable for small instruments used in robotic surgery.A similar patent is pending in the U.S.

 

2. With the recently granted patent, Titan Medical has 21 issued patents and 49 pending patents.

 

3. In 2017, Titan Medical received its first patents for its single port robotic surgical system. The company plans to build on its patent to develop more robotic systems.
