Three Groups of North Carolina Physicians Submit Surgery Center Proposals

Several groups of physicians in North Carolina’s Triad area have submitted three proposals for new outpatient surgery centers, which will compete for approval by the state, according to a report in The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area.

Three physician practices — Greensboro Orthopaedics, Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists and Wake Forest University Physicians — joined together and are planning to build a $7.6 million surgery center near the Guilford/Forsyth county line, according to the report.

Orthopaedic Specialists of the Carolinas have proposed a $4.6 million surgery center in Kernersville, N.C., and Piedmont Ear, Nose and Throat Associates proposed a $4.1 million center in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Approval from the state is needed before any of the projects can move forward.
