Tennessee Requires Pain Management Clinics to Register with State

In an effort to curb prescription drug abuse in the state, Tennessee is requiring that pain clinics register with the Tennessee Department of Health by Jan. 1, 2012, according to a News Channel 5 report.

Andrea Turner, communications director for the department, told News Channel 5 that the state had already received 115 applications. The new law also provides the state the right to review clinic files, the right to demand re-certification for all clinics every two years and the right of state investigators to go into clinics and inspect records.
