Tennessee Legislation Would Require Database Check Before Opioid Prescription

Tennessee state Sen. Ken Yager proposed legislation that would require doctors and pharmacists to check the state’s Controlled Substance Monitoring Database before prescribing or filling prescriptions for pain medications, according to a Knoxnews.com report.

The senator also said he is he is drafting a bill that would require people picking up a prescription for certain medications to present photo identification. The bills would cover opioids, central nervous system depressants and stimulants.
