Symmetry Medical Announces Q1 Results

Warsaw, Ind.-based Symmetry Medical announced its results for the quarter ended April 3, 2010, which included a 10.6 percent gain on a sequential basis from the fourth quarter of 2009, according to a Symmetry news release.

Revenue for the first quarter 2010 was $84.5 million, up from the $76.4 million reported in the fourth quarter 2009, reflecting increased customer demand across all product lines, according to the release. Revenue for the first quarter 2009 was $101.4 million.

Gross profit for the first quarter 2010 was $17.0 million, up 21.4 percent on a sequential basis from the $14.0 million reported in the fourth quarter 2009.  Gross profit for the first quarter 2009 was $24.6 million, according to the release.

Operating income for the first quarter 2010 was $3.9 million, up from fourth quarter 2009 operating income of $1.2 million and compared to $11.2 million for the first quarter 2009.  Net income for the first quarter 2010 was $1.6 million, up from $0.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2009 and compared to $6.9 million for the first quarter of 2009, according to the release.
