1. The surgeon was able to use a 3D printed model of a tumor to get a better idea on how to operate.
2. The model was created by converting CAT scan images into a 3D model, using three types of plastic to differentiate between the tumor’s different elements.
3. “This kind of modeling helps me to sleep better, because I can imagine it much more easily,” Rose Ganim, chief of thoracic surgery at Baystate Medical Center told the Gazette.
