Researchers studied 12 young male patients with severe osteochondritis dissecans of the humeral capitellum. All patients were treated with osteochondral autograft transplantation from the contralateral knee joint.

At three months after surgery, 10 patients were pain-free and none had knee joint effusion. None of the patients showed knee osteoarthritis after 24 months.
