The authors studied 413 patients after ACI and found 88 patients underwent surgical revision surgery during the average follow-up period. The patients were most likely to receive the revision surgery within two years of the initial procedure.
The factors associated with a higher risk for re-intervention were:
• Female gender
• Previous surgeries in the affected joint
• Previous bone marrow stimulation
• Periosteum patch-covered ACI
