The SPRI’s research focuses on orthopedic disorders and conditions. The research provides a tool for orthopedic surgeons to best diagnose and treat patients through evidence-based medicine.
Hip injuries are becoming more common, according to the release, because of the strenuous twisting, rotating and overuse that begins during youth sporting events. SPRI has been studying hip-impingements, which can cause pain with every step patients take and can eventually lead to cartilage tears.
Several orthopedic procedures have been developed by The Steadman Clinic surgeons, including the microfracture procedure developed by Richard Steadman, MD, Comprehensive Arthroscopic Management for rotator cuff injuries pioneered by Peter Millett, MD, and “The Package” arthroscopic procedures designed to treat pre-arthritic and arthritic patients.
