The multi-million dollar project includes equipment to help researchers and surgeons understand the demands on joints for certain sports or motions, how injuries occur and how the injuries can be best treated. The equipment also allows surgeons to practice current and new surgical techniques in an OR-like environment.

SPRI partnered with the Vail Valley Medical Center for the project, which will support ongoing research on the hip, ankle, hand, elbow, shoulder and knee. In addition to the two new laboratories, the facility includes a BioMotion Laboratory for analyzing how the body moves.
