The research is designed to find ways astronauts can keep their bones and muscles stronger during long-duration space missions. Astronauts are at risk of losing bone mineral density while on their missions, which can increase the chance of bone fractures.
The researchers found that completing exercises that target anatomical areas of the body that experience high levels of BMD loss can help prevent the risk of fractures.
