Sports Medicine Job Market to Grow 20% Through 2018

The United States Department of Labor has projected a 20 percent increase in job opportunities from 2008 through 2018, and salaries in sports medicine have been set between $32,000 and $374,300, according to a Sports Medicine Salary report.

In addition to sports medicine physicians, who would be on the high end of the salary scale, there is projected growth among athletic trainers, physical therapists and exercise physiology specialists.

Even though the opportunities are expected to grow, there is still intense competition for jobs with almost 7 million people looking for jobs, according to the report.
