Small Michigan Hospital Starts Orthopedics Program

Allegan (Mich.) General Hospital has opened a new orthopedic unit with a “Joint Academy” program that helps speed up recovery from hip and knee replacements, according to a release from Allegan General Hospital.

Amenities at the 54-bed hospital’s orthopedic unit include five private rooms designed for orthopedics patients, physical therapy and education facilities, and a team of specialized nurses, therapists and technicians.

The Joint Academy brings a successful model developed by top orthopedic hospitals to a small community hospital, so that patients can stay near home.
