Here are five highlights.
1. The robotic system ExcelsiusGPS costs roughly $1.2 million. The idea to purchase the robotic system was presented to the board at its April meeting.
2. CFO Nathan Stutte and spine surgeon James Ulibarri, MD, have been advocating for the system for the last six months.
3. ExcelsiusGPS is the only robotic system that combines preoperative imaging and intraoperative virtual navigation designed to give surgeons improved precision for spinal stabilization procedures.
4. Dr. Ulibarri is advocating for the system, so he can stop referring patients to larger hospitals. He noted the hospital does not have the equipment to perform advanced complex cases.
5. If the system is approved by May 2 it will be funded out of the hospital’s regular budget and need no additional funding.
