Senator Introduces Malpractice Provision for Health Reform Bill

U.S. Sen. Mark Udall (D-Colo.) has introduced an amendment to the Senate’s healthcare reform bill that aims to reduce the cost and complexity of medical malpractice lawsuits, according to a report by the Denver Business Journal.

The amendment would change rules on use of expert witnesses in malpractice trials to expedite the process.

The measure, however, would not impose caps on jury awards, as many physicians have been campaigning for.
