According to the report, 18 patient records were compromised, and the information was used to create bogus credit cards used for nearly $3,000 in purchases at a Sears in Upper Darby, Pa. The patients have been notified and have been offered help in settling credit issues as a result of the breach.
Shacoy McNish has been arrested for identity theft, and according to the report, there is no confirmation whether anyone at Penn Health had been fired as a result of alleged theft. Nineteen copies of medical records were found in Mr. McNish’s vehicle at the time of his arrest.
