“If we think you can compete or practice safely with an injury, we’ll tell you how to do that and what restrictions they need to abide by,” Dr. Lockhart told King 5.
When dealing with young athletes, Dr. Lockhart also spoke of how extra stress to growth plates can lead to injuries that a matured skeleton would not suffer. Because of this, the hospital’s sports medicine program implements injury prevention programs, especially ones focused on ACL injuries, said the report.
