Scott Blumenthal, MD (Texas Back Institute, Plano). Dr. Blumenthal is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Texas Back Institute and co-founder and director of the Center for Disc Replacement at TBI. He is credited with performing the first lumbar disc replacement in the Untied States and has participated in clinical trials for several artificial discs.
Dr. Blumenthal is also a spine consultant for the Dallas Mavericks; Texas Back Institute is spine care providers for the professional soccer team FC Dallas. He has published numerous articles in professional spine journals and presented on his work nationally.
Dr. Blumenthal earned his medical degree at Northwestern University Medical School in Evanston, Ill., and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas. His additional training includes a fellowship in spinal trauma at Midwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury Care System at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
