Three things to know:

1. The investment aims to develop Sanford’s profile in combat sports and the wider sports medicine field.

2. Around 40 fighters are part of the Sanford Mixed Martial Arts team, which includes former Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight champion Robbie Lawler and Logan Storley, a South Dakota native.

3. The new MMA team provides Sanford physicians with the opportunity to “enhance the sport and to also work with world class athletes,” according to Brad Reeves, MD, who will serve as the team’s medical director and physician.
