Watkins III pic 1Robert Watkins III, MD (Watkins Spine, Marina Del Rey, Calif.). Dr. Watkins is co-director of the Marina Spine Clinic and founding member of the North American Spine Society. Throughout his career, he’s authored several books and articles associated with spine surgery and trained several surgeons in the spine and sports medicine specialty. Dr. Watkins has treated several professional athletes from all over the country.

 

Dr. Watkins’ expertise includes treating sports-related injuries and he participated in FDA-approved investigational studies. He was also the primary investigator on the ProDisc artificial disc replacement study.

 

Dr. Watkins earned his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Southern California. His additional training includes spine surgery fellowships at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopedic Hospital and Klinik fur Orthopadische Chirugie.
