A majority of ACOs are in the private sector; commercial ACOs outnumber government ACOs by a factor of four to one. Moreover, most organizations are hospital-led and established in large metropolitan regions.

The white paper includes a map showing where ACOs are located across the country as well as a map with a breakdown of ACO distribution by hospital referral region.
