Repeal of SGR Included in Senate Dems’ Budget

The Senate’s 114-page budget plan, chaired by Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), includes restored Medicare funding for the 2 percent reimbursement cuts enacted by the sequester, as well as a permanent — though non-specific — fix to replace the sustainable growth rate that would drastically cut physician pay.

Looking to remove the “uncertainty” the SGR causes, “the Senate budget assumes the costs of a permanent fix to the SGR and replaces the Medicare sequestration cuts,” according to the document.

The documents do not outline a specific plan for how the SGR would be replaced, however.
