Mr. Roy has already had surgery on both of his knees, which are currently experiencing pain again. His knees are thought to be “bone-on-bone,” and he is investigating several treatment options, including meniscal transplant, according to the report.
The procedure Mr. Roy is seeking has been performed on retired professional athletes but never on an active athlete. Mr. Roy, who will be out of play for the rest of the season, still has four years left on his mini-max contract after this season.
