Here are six things to know:

1. Azurion performs minimally invasive, catheter-based procedures in an interventional or a hybrid operating room.

2. The machine works on the ConnectOS operating system and is capable of real-time processing of data from imaging systems, interventional devices, navigation tools and patient health records.

3. Vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, interventional oncology and interventional neuroradiology are capable of integrating Azurion’s planning and navigation software.

4. Azurion speeds pre-program tasks and preferences up and reduces risk of surgical errors at a very low X-ray dose.

5. The machine took five years to develop and will serve as Philips’ main guided imaging product moving forward.

6. Philips has a strong presence in the U.S. image guidance market and is working on expanding its market in the Asia Pacific.
