Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society Names New President

Wayne Sebastianelli, MD, director of athletic medicine at Penn State University, has become president of the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, according to a release from the society.

Dr. Sebastianelli said he plans to strengthen the society’s outreach to young orthopedic surgeons in residency programs, familiarizing them with clinical, socio-economic and legislative issues facing the specialty.

He also intends to communicate concerns about health care reform legislation to U.S. senators and representatives from Pennsylvania.

“The delivery of quality specialty care must be upheld in whatever reform is ultimately passed in Congress,” he stated.
