Orthopedic Surgeon, Surgery Center Founder Dies at Age 74

Panama City, Fla.-based orthopedic surgeon Weems Roland McArthur, MD, passed away on Dec. 29, 2009, after a three-month battle with pulmonary fibrosis, according to a report from WJHG News.

Dr. McArthur was a pioneer in orthopedic surgery in the region and was the first surgeon in Bay County, Fla., to perform arthroscopic surgery, according to the report. He was also one of the founders of Northwest Florida Surgery Center in Panama City.

Dr. McArthur was 74.
