Orthopedic Surgeon and Former Gold-Medal Athlete Receives Honor

A competition rowing boat has been christened in honor of Jo A. Hannafin, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Old Greenwich, Conn., who won three gold medals at U.S. National Rowing Championships, according to Connecticut Plus.

The U.S. Women’s Eight rowing team will be rowing the boat in competitions in Poznan, Poland.

Dr. Hannafin has been team physician to the U.S. Rowing Team since 1994 and is orthopedic director at the Women’s Sports Medicine Center at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
