Orthopedic & Spine Industry Leader to Know: Dr. James Lynch

James Lynch, MD, is a neurological surgeon who specializes in complex spine surgery, cervical disorders, spinal deformities and minimally invasive spine surgery. He is the founder and CEO of SpineNevada, as well as chairman and director of spine at the Surgical Center of Reno. He is one of a handful of spine surgeons with three fellowships in his specialty.

Dr. Lynch currently serves as a partner and director of Spine Services at Regent Surgical Health, a company that helps develop hospitals and outpatient surgery centers. Scott Becker, JD, CPA, of McGuireWoods, says of Dr. Lynch, “Jim is one of the most dynamic and smartest surgeons in the healthcare arena today.”

Dr. Lynch earned his medical degree from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. After graduation, he undertook fellowships at Mayo Clinic, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queens Square in London, UK, and the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Ariz.

Dr. Lynch is on staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Renown Regional Medical Center, both located in Reno. As director of spine services for Regent Surgical Health, he directs Regent’s program to help physicians develop spine-focused ASCs and hospitals.

In February, Dr. Lynch was named to the Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review list of “50 of the Best Spine Specialists in America”. He was also an invited guest speaker on spine center and ASC development at the 2010 American Association of Neurological Surgeons Annual Meeting in May.

Dr. Lynch is a noted scholar, having been published in leading journals including Spine: Journal of Neurosurgery and Neurosurgery. As an authority on ASC development, he lectures at national meetings on outpatient spine surgery and serves as chairman and director of spine programs at Surgery Center of Reno.
