Orthopedic Groups Join for Symposium Connecting Military & Civilian Surgeons

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is partnering with the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons and Orthopaedic Research Society on a major research symposium to connect military and civilian surgeons, according to a report in AAOS Now.

The symposium, titled “A Decade at War: Evolution of Orthopaedic Combat Casualty Care (WEI VII) Research Symposium” will take place in January and highlight the different phases of trauma patient care. Col. Romney Anderson, MD, chairman of orthopedics at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and Capt. Michael Bosse, MD, director of clinical research at the Carolinas Medical Center, will co-chair the symposium.

The symposium was established in 2006.
