Orthopedic and Spine Surgeon Max Negri Dies at 84

Max Negri, MD, an orthopedic and spine surgeon who performed extensive clinical research on chymopapain lumbar injections, is dead at age 84, according to a report by the Daily Breeze.

Dr. Negri practiced from 1959-1989 at Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance, where he specialized in complicated spinal operations.

He earned his MD degree at the University of Southern California and was the first orthopedic resident at what is now Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Negri founded the Negri Foundation, which underwrites the Negri Learning Center, the Norris Center for the Performing Arts’ education program and Marymount College’s Negri Lecture Series.
