Recently, he spoke with Soccer Lens about Mr. Hargreaves’ recovery from knee injury.
“The problem was with the tendon attached to the patella on each knee, which is difficult to resolve,” said Dr. Steadman in the report. “Owen has spent a lot of time with us here in Colorado and he just has a great work ethic. He’s never given up on us and we never give up on him. The recovery was arduous and took a long time…and his condition looks promising now. You can’t rush this type of injury.”
During his career, Dr. Steadman has developed numerous techniques for knee surgery and rehabilitation which has been adopted worldwide for treatment. Prior to founding The Steadman Clinic, Dr. Steadman practiced orthopedics in Lake Tahoe, Calif., where he was named chief physician for the U.S. Ski Team. He worked with several competition champions and Olympic medal winners.
Dr. Steadman also founded the Steadman Phillippon Research Institute, which is a non-profit sports medicine foundation supporting research in knee surgery and rehabilitation projects.
Dr. Steadman graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas and completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He also spent two years in the army and completed an internship.
