“My experience and published clinical research suggests that the SI joint is a significant contributor to low back problems,” said Dr. Rashbaum in the release. “All spine surgeons should include the SI joint as part of their patient work-up and differential diagnosis of low back complaints.”
Dr. Rashbaum has published his research in several professional journals, including Spine. He has also given presentations around the country on topics such as minimally invasive posterior lumbar fusions. During his career, he has developed several new surgical protocols and technologies for spine disorders.
Through his work at Texas Back Institute in Plano, Dr. Rashbaum has trained several spine surgeons. The Texas Back Institute fellowship program is one of the oldest and largest programs in the country.
Dr. Rashbaum earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago Medical School and completed his residency at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. He also completed a fellowship in spine surgery with Richard Rothman, MD, and Frederick Simone, MD, in Philadelphia.
