Dr. Romeo performs one of the highest case volumes of shoulder replacements in Illinois on a wide range of patients, including professional athletes. He is the team physician for the River North Dance Company in Chicago and served as a consultant to the Ameritech Cup Women’s Professional Tennis Tournament. This past summer, he performed a surgery on White Sox pitcher Jack Peavy for his torn Latissimus dorsi muscle in his right posterior shoulder.
He was recently named to the board of directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is also founder and president of the Notre Dame Orthopaedic Society.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Romeo is an associate professor of orthopedics at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. He has also designed an advanced shoulder replacement system for the treatment of arthritis.
Dr. Romeo earned his medical degree at St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. His additional training includes a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle.
