Boone Orthopaedic Associates will become OrthoCarolina Boone. The practice will continue to offer sports medicine, total joint replacement and fracture care among other orthopedic evaluation and treatment. The practice serves as team physicians for Appalachian State University and two high schools.

Stephen Fleming, MD, a physician with Boone Orthopaedic Associates, said the merger will allow practice physicians to focus more on patient care during “the changing face of healthcare reform.” The merger comes less than five months after OrthoCarolina added three offices in eastern North Carolina through a merger with Scotland Orthopedics.
