OrthoCarolina CEO Dr. Dan Murrey Named Executive Director of Charlotte Host Committee for the 2012 Democratic National Convention

Dan Murrey, MD, a spine surgeon and CEO of OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, N.C., has been named the executive director of the Charlotte host committee for the 2012 Democratic National Convention, according to a practice news release.

Dr. Murrey previously served as an at-large member of the Mecklenburg County Commission. Brent Shear, CFO of OrthoCarolina, will serve as interim CEO in Dr. Murrey’s place during his 17-month absence.

Dr. Murrey will return to OrthoCarolina after the convention in September of 2012. In addition to his medical degree, he earned a masters degree in public policy from the JFK School of Government.
