OrthoAtlanta physicians to become team doctors for MLS team

OrthoAtlanta orthopedic surgeon Peter Symbas, MD, and foot and ankle surgeon Jeffrey Smith, MD, will provide orthopedic and sports medicine care to Atlanta’s Major League Soccer team, Atlanta United FC and Atlanta United 2.

Dr. Symbas will serve as CMO for Atlanta United FC. Previously, he was a team physician for the Atlanta Silverbacks professional soccer team as well as Atlanta-based preparatory school Pace Academy. Dr. Symbas received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, and he completed a fellowship in sports medicine at The Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Ga.

Dr. Smith will serve as a foot and ankle specialist for Atlanta United 2, Atlanta United FC’s reserve team. After earning his medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Dr. Smith completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
