The bill, authored by state congressman Joe Dorman (D-Rush Springs), was introduced after a football player didn’t receive immediate attention that could have saved his life and died from a head injury incurred during a high school game. No medical professionals were on the sidelines of the game to administer care.
Mr. Dorman hopes the bill will allow more medical professionals to volunteer their time without fear of repercussions. The bill is likely to impact smaller schools that can’t afford to have a medical professional on staff.
