Ohio Bill Would Require Certified Coaches to Take Brain Injury Management Courses

A bill being introduced in Ohio next week focuses on preventing and managing concussions in youth athletes, according to a Tribune Chronicle report.

The bill requires athletes who experience brain-related injury to receive clearance by a licensed healthcare provider before returning to play. The bill also requires certified coaches to undergo brain injury and brain injury management courses.

In addition to the coach and player requirements, the bill requires parents to review an information sheet about brain injuries before allowing their children to play.
