Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, MD (Hospital for Special Surgery, New York City). Dr. Boachie-Adjei is chief emeritus of the scoliosis service at Hospital for Special Surgery and a professor of orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. A Ghana-native, Dr. Boachie-Adjei founded the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine in the country to provide medical care to underserved populations in West Africa, and recently announced he would relocate his practice there.
Throughout his career, Dr. Boachie-Adjei published and lectured on spine surgery with an emphasis on deformity. He received the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Humanitarian Award for his work in Africa and served as the president of the Scoliosis Research Society. In 2005, he earned the Science and Peace Gold Medal — a Humanitarian Award — from the Albert Schweitzer International University in Switzerland.
Dr. Boachie-Adjei earned his medical degree at Columbia University in New York and completed his residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital & Medical Center. His additional training includes a spine surgery fellowship at Twin Cities Scoliosis Center and Minnesota Spine Center.
