The suit alleges that Mr. Braden suffered permanent nerve damage in his left foot related to a procedure performed by Dr. Peatman in August of 2009. The allegations state that Dr. Peatman was attempting to remove a cyst and severed Mr. Braden’s peroneal nerve.
Since the surgery, Mr. Braden says he has experienced numbness and pain while pitching, which caused fatigue during games and affected his pitching style. Dr. Peatman and Webster Orthopaedic Group are no longer affiliated with the A’s.
Dr. Peatman and Webster Orthopaedic Group have not responded to the allegations.
