Here are five things to know:
1. NuVasive will bring its reputation for innovating in spine technology, focused on minimally invasive and procedurally integrated solutions, to the partnership while Siemens Healthineers will contribute its experience in imaging systems. Siemens has a 3D imaging system for complex spine cases.
2. The two companies aim to develop an imaging solution focused on improving the operating room workflow efficiency and increasing precision for minimally invasive spine surgeries. To begin, the companies will integrate the NuVasive Pulse surgical automation platform with Siemens Healthineers’ Cios Spin mobile 3D intraoperative imaging technology.
3. The companies aim to help surgeons and hospitals improve OR workflow efficiency and provide scalable, cost-effective technology.
4. NuVasive and Siemens plan to feature the Spine Precision Partnership at the North American Spine Society 2018 Annual Meeting in Las Angeles later in September. The Cios Spin is not commercially available in the U.S. yet, and its FDA 510(k) clearance is pending.
5. NuVasive currently has a 2,400-person workforce serving surgeons and hospitals in more than 40 countries.
